Chapter 21: Electric World

Dear reader,

Good afternoon :), what is always switched on, electric and lights up in the dark?
New York? Your television? No you silly muffin. It's my love for YOU :D.

When I was a boy I wanted the latest gadgets. In my case it was the latest video consoles and gaming experience. I loved games and my friends did too. I would get endless fun from going to their houses every weekend to conquer the next boss, or fight the aliens with the big guns. Even if the enjoyment had come from a screen omitting light, it was still enjoyment and it was still fun. Funny enough I was given plastic animals to play with while my friends played on their Sega Saturn. Can I complain? :) Of course not, because Mr Green T-rex and the evil Lion were awesome and I guess my crazy imagination came from those days of creating out of thin air. Thank you mama and papa.

I eventually grew out of video games, not because they were under me. Simply because I am now in a point in my life where I realize real happiness comes from what people generate rather than that what they are stimulated by. Which has us arrive at today's blog topic: how technology influences our everyday existence and the dangers of it as we head into the age of the cyber: the electric world.

Chapter 20: Weather Man

Dear reader,

Hello, hello :D. Do you like water?
Good. Then you like 70% of my body ;).

I can strongly relate to people who like the sound of the rain. As a musician I think it is close minded to suggest that the only music we hear in life is played through musical instruments. I believe music exists everywhere and in everything, and the most notable musician of all is Mother Nature herself. It is her who plays the wind, that strums the rain and drums thunder.

I respect people who enjoy these "natural" sounds, I feel that they are closer to their roots. Fundamentally we live in a natural world quickly being overcome by artificial demons. High heels that keep women's feet high above the real ground, concrete roads that are built over earth, and artificial swimming pools that replace the ocean. Society has a way of desensitizing us from Mother Nature and even something as simple and beautiful as the weather can be twisted and manipulated into something less than it really is.

Take the weather man for example. It has become convention for  television to forecast the weather and it is always denoted the same. A picture of a sun, a picture of a sun and cloud, cloud, rain cloud, thunder cloud. Although this next part may sound a little crazy, the weather channel is another example of how society limits our perception of reality by structuring weather into categories thereby having us fit our daily routines around what weather we see on the screen.

Chapter 19: Tickling Fate

Dear reader,

Wow...déjà vu... I'm sure that we've met before...and if we haven't... then this is even stranger. Or you're strange...you beautiful weirdo, you :D.

Welcome to chapter 19 of Huli Adventures. It has been a few days that I've been away from the writing desk but on this special Monday I decided to return with something of an esoteric post: my reference points to fate and the synchronicity of life itself.

I was born and raised a Christian and Christians fundamentally believe that God, being the creator and father of all living creation, has a plan for each and every one of us. This is quite a fatalistic point of view to believe that everything that you do is all part of God's plan and that even your own death has a purpose.

Whether you are a religious or not I believe that accepting that there is some sort of higher power that binds us together is a very magical, stress free activity that makes life more magical for all of us. There is no commitment to it unless you are a practicing religious person, other than being more open minded and seeing the world more like a child.

Chapter 18: The Passion

Dear reader,

PHooOoOAh Kisssing!

So, reader :D. I can see that you are a little flustered under the collar after viewing the picture. Believe me, I was too. Why, they should call me the next E L James (the author of Fifty Shades of Gray), or another established author of erotic writing.

Although it's not my cup of tea (to put it kindly) Fifty Shades, like Twilight, was a hugely successful book series. To this day they have sold millions of copies worldwide and have attracted merchandise, film adaptations and an entire fandom of girls who dream and crave over the fantasies simulated in the books.

I have wondered what the appeal was other than the "sex" or "lust" that women would be drawn to.The answer is this: what sells isn't "sex" but "passion". On a deeper level, passion fuels good vibrations. People from all walks of life live for the passion. The football fan, the nerd, the collector, the girl reading the magazine. Our hobbies are our first protocol for our passions to breathe and you will find that wherever you go, as long as you are passionate about something, people will want to hear what you have to say.

Chapter 17: Wonders of Work

Dear reader,

Where has the sunshine gone? It is has been raining all day  :(
No worry, no worry, there you are! Come inside. Seriously, you are the sunshine of this blog, so thanks for dropping by. :D

Has anyone ever thanked you for doing them a favour? ;) A few come to mind: helping grandma cross the road, giving way to a car during the traffic hour, or helping your sister with her maths homework. I always wondered what the distinguishing factor was between helping others for a moral reason and simply helping them for the sake of it. Arguably you do all of the above because it is the right thing to do in the circumstances. Tell me then, why don't we have this view of the mundane but necessary tasks of our everyday's existence?

I am talking about the chores that have to be done at home, like washing the dishes, ironing the clothes, cleaning the toilets or cooking a meal. I am talking about the exams that everyone is revising for, or the tasks at the office. We always see the necessity behind it: "it just has to be done", or "someone has to do it". Yet we never take a step back and ask ourselves why, and whom are we ultimately helping?

Chapter 16: Patient People

Dear reader,

Hello again! Dance with me you wonderful person :D. You don't know how to dance? I'll teach you in a later blog post :P

In three weeks time my family will be jetting off to Cuba. The resort is a paradise: the beach could be a desktop background; there will be parties, food, historical sites and a thousand activities to do during the day and night. My papa booked the holiday at the start of the year and you can probably imagine that we are all looking forward to it.

This made me ponder about the importance of waiting for things and the weaknesses of doing so too.
As you have probably heard before, there is a saying that goes: "Good things come for those who wait" but I also feel that "bad things come to those who wait too long".

It is natural for people to lose patience with things. In a world of technology, the modern world, where everything is instantaneous, like text messaging, emails, even deliveries to your door and telephone calls, high speed broadband: we humans have a reason to be impatient. We want instant results.

Chapter 15: Fighting Back

Dear reader,

Roses are red, violets are blue, you love my blog, and I love you too :D.

Aww, were you hoping it was Valentines Day? :P. Well--too bad. It's June. The sun has been shining throughout the day and the heat is rising in my room. My word! I will need a fan soon :). For those of my readers who don't live in the UK, air conditioning is not too common over here. People tend to keep their windows open at night with the disadvantage of having little flies buzzing around the room following your lamp light and the occasional moth who yells: "Freeeeedoooooom!" before being zapped in the belly.

Today's article is represented in the picture above. I love this for lots of reasons, one reason is that it's one of my favorite stories from the Old Testament, referred to as "David and Goliath". For those who aren't familiar with the story, let me summarize: there were two large armies at war with each other. One army had Goliath as their best warrior: a giant of a man, almost indestructible on the battle field. The other army (who had the support of God) were terrified of Goliath. Yet from the ranks, a little teenager by the name of David, a strong believer in the power of God, volunteered to fight the beast, and to some persuasion of his own king, he eventually stepped out and went to fight him. With a sling shot and some nifty rocks, he found a weak spot in Goliath's armor and crippled his skull, killing the monster and winning the battle for his side.

Chapter 14: Keeping Cute

Dear reader,

Tonight you and I are going to get cuddly :). No, don't be silly. My hug's are great: warm, long and without any pats on the back; you don't have to be shy. What? You want to do what? I'm afraid I wasn't that serious about us...gosh... onto the blog then...wow....you make things so awkward for me :D.

Haha-- I hope you had an enjoyable day, mine certainly has been. Amongst the productivity and the general feeling of being fulfilled I have the pleasure of sharing with you some more seeds of wisdom that came to me today while walking the dog.

We have a family dog named Kipling and I bought him as a gift for my sister's birthday. He is a Shih tzu, with floppy ears, a tail that curls upwards and a coat of very fluffy fur that requires regular trimming. Apart from being a family pet he has turned into somewhat of a family member which I can imagine is the case for most families with animals. Why, he sits down with us at dinner, he lounges about while my family watches television, he even rattles at the door in the morning to wake us up; he's a part of our lives. Ever since he has been around I have noticed reduced amounts of stress in the family, I have noticed our family becoming more tightly bonded and more loving and patient (as these are the qualities needed to look after an animal).

Chapter 13: Being Healthy

Dear reader,

Wooooo! Look at you. :D Come in, come in, and stop looking at me like that, you weird, beautiful person, you :).

Approximately three weeks ago, a few days before writing this blog, I decided that I would jump into a regiment with the goal of improving my life in every way possible. This meant to strive to be stronger mentally, spiritually and physically as a human being. The mental and spiritual exercises were no-brainers for me, as my main hobbies involved the use of my brain and I am to this day a spiritual person. As for exercising my own body, now, this was something else entirely.

I will be absolutely honest with you good reader, I am a skinny guy and I have been for sometime. I believe the correct term is an ectomorph, which is a body type that has a high metabolism (is capable of burning off fat very quickly) and is a hard gainer, which means I find it very difficult to gain muscle and healthy body mass. I don't do any sports although I am a strong swimmer, and I loathed cross country at school.

When I first started looking into routines and schedules I was absolutely flabbergasted about the wealth of material available on the internet, not only that, but to how many thousands of people really cared about their well being. Health and fitness were never drilled into our heads in school. I am aware that in some European countries such as Germany, fitness is mandatory and is encouraged right through pre-school to the very end. The Germans have it going on. From what I have learnt and experienced, there is no faster way of improving your lifestyle and well being then starting to take action with your body.

Chapter 12: Understanding Women

Dear reader,

Woohoo! My favourite person is back :). Here, have a donut. It's fattening but it's also digital, so don't you worry :).

Today I feel great: the sun is shining, I've exercised loads, I'm eating well, and I am receiving waves of inspiration fueling productivity. I thought that today I would share something very special with you all :). To the female readers of this blog, what I'm about to write may humor you. To the male readers, this may very well enlighten you....or make you very grumpy. Let's find out :P.

When I was eight years old I genuinely believed that women had psychic abilities. This premonition came to me one lunch time during a school recital where the teacher of my other class gave us the most wicked smile I had ever seen and she had this twinkling glint in her eye as if she was going to turn us all into frogs. Ok, fine. I had an over active imagination. Yet, since that day I have been very curious about the opposite sex. Can they see things we can't? Do they have a sixth sense? Why is it that women can pack things in a suitcase or lunchbox better than any man can? These questions had me begging for answers.

Chapter 11: Musical Hearts

Dear reader,

Wow..your eyes are beautiful...can I touch them? :P

Haha. It's that time of the day again, when you put aside what you are doing and curiously click the link on one of the social media outlets. You stumble across my blog which now has a few visual changes, including a snazzy post widget, and social media contact animation tool. You look at today's topic photo and see a red haired girl in a medieval dress playing a cello while a black cat peers mysteriously back at you. Stay with me, it gets better :D

You wonder what the title "musical hearts" is all about and I give you a cheeky smile and say it's about the music in our lives and how everyone has a musical heart of genius made to enjoy music, play music, or both. At the end of this article I pray that I can give you some inspiration to pick up that instrument that you left behind, or listen to new genres of music to broaden your horizons. Or, to pick up something completely new--to go that extra distance and give music a go one last time.
