Chapter 18: The Passion

Dear reader,

PHooOoOAh Kisssing!

So, reader :D. I can see that you are a little flustered under the collar after viewing the picture. Believe me, I was too. Why, they should call me the next E L James (the author of Fifty Shades of Gray), or another established author of erotic writing.

Although it's not my cup of tea (to put it kindly) Fifty Shades, like Twilight, was a hugely successful book series. To this day they have sold millions of copies worldwide and have attracted merchandise, film adaptations and an entire fandom of girls who dream and crave over the fantasies simulated in the books.

I have wondered what the appeal was other than the "sex" or "lust" that women would be drawn to.The answer is this: what sells isn't "sex" but "passion". On a deeper level, passion fuels good vibrations. People from all walks of life live for the passion. The football fan, the nerd, the collector, the girl reading the magazine. Our hobbies are our first protocol for our passions to breathe and you will find that wherever you go, as long as you are passionate about something, people will want to hear what you have to say.

My definition of the word passion is a hard wired feeling of being addicted to something we enjoy. In other words, what is the thing that makes you feel alive? In football stadiums this is magnetized(rather like the Colosseum of Ancient Rome) so the passion is astronomical, so much so that men will get into bloody fights over their team losing and forsake all moral value in the name of a blue or red shirt. Stupid? No. Passionate.

Passionate lovers want to give each other so much. It is something beyond lust entirely: it's love, an emotion that drives them to do crazy things. Hence, why Fifty Shades is so popular as it focuses on the passion behind the story. Women love the emotions that the books trigger; the excitement, the danger, they are all forms of passion which ultimately create those positive emotions in herself.  Most of all in real life, they adore it when a man is passionate about something because again, people not only live for the passion but they are attracted to passionate people too. These sort of people have a sense of purpose and ambition in the world: most of all they are much more interesting to talk to. Someone who is not passionate about anything is dimly lit. Passion light up the eyes like fireflies. Thus one of the difficulties of marriage is that couples begin to lose the concept of passion, and being passionate towards each other due to the repetitive nature. How do we counter this? By bringing passion back: by exciting and challenging the relationship rather than letting it flow in its natural state.

Geeks and nerds, or if you lament the term (I am one proud and true),often have passions for things like video games, anime, Warhammer models, Magick the Gathering, etc. Female geeks might love anime and have crushes on anime characters. This doesn't make these kinds of people any less appealing than those passionate about rollerblading or motorbikes. The truth is that passion is the mystery of all hobbies in the world. Passion drives skill, and skill drives talent. For example, if you are passionate about a subject at school you will be driven to succeed at it.

Be proud of what you are passionate about, be proud to be passionate about something different. We live in a cyber world now where you can find equally passionate people on the net and in real life groups. People are rarely ever alone: unless of course you are passionate about being alone :D. I encourage all of you if you haven't already, to find that special thing that you are passionate about and really go the extra distance to try new things: languages, foods, hobbies and cultures. Passion allows us to live in the moment. You will find that people become naturally more comfortable in the habitat of the thing that they are most passionate about. On a computer, a cyber geek would have more confidence than a man who's passion is in rugby, and vise versa. Thus, let your passions play to your strengths and watch the magic happen as all around you people will want to be part of that reality. People live for passion and so people will live for knowing you.

:) Until next time, you wonderful thing.
